Part of the lineup for Arkansas Cinema Society‘s annual Filmland festival, held this year at the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts (501 E. 9th St.) from Aug. 15-18, has been unveiled. In particular, the festival announced their Filmland: Arkansas program, which highlights the work of Natural State filmmakers.
In addition to films made by a director, producer or writer from Arkansas, work with an Arkansas native involved in a significant capacity in any of the following roles was eligible for consideration: actor, supporting actor, production designer, costumer designer, sound designer, composer, editor, cinematographer, animator, visual effects, makeup and hair, and first assistant director. In other words, the way in which and the extent to which each selection is Arkansas-connected may vary. Here’s the full roster of what’ll be shown in August:

As a slightly ashamed “How I Met Your Mother” aficionado, I’ve got my eye on “All Happy Families,” which stars Josh Radnor and was co-written by North Little Rock native Coburn Goss.
Audiences will select a single winner in the feature and professional shorts category, each of which will receive Panavision New Filmmaker grants in the amount of $60,000 and $15,000 respectively. Little Rock native Cassie Keet, last year’s feature winner for “Scream Therapy,” is using the grant to make her sophomore feature, “Abigail Before Beatrice,” which was in production in Little Rock in June.
More Filmland announcements are still to come and tickets aren’t yet available for purchase, so keep an eye on the ACS website for updates.
