We took delivery on 180 pounds of Alan Leveritt’s heirloom tomatoes this Tuesday morning at the Tanglewood location of Edwards Food Giant. We have goldies, carbons and ananas noire tomatoes.
The goldies are a stable mutation of a red, 19th century Abraham Lincoln. They are ready to eat when they are a deep gold, not yellow. The carbons are a ‘black’ tomato and are dark red when ripe. Leveritt counts this variety as one of his favorites.
Ananas noire is green with red marbling when ripe and is a favorite of Chef Peter Brave.
