AP reports that Entergy Mississippi will refund $300 million for overcharging customers for inflating its return on the cost of the Grand Gulf nuclear power plant.

The deal includes $80 cash credits to almost a half-million customers. Most of the refund will go to offset the cost of future fuel price increases.

The local angle:

Louisiana, New Orleans and Arkansas are seeking refunds too. They argue that $800 million spent to upgrade Grand Gulf hadn’t improved the safety record or performance.
