Arkansas Democrats continue to be fired up over Kamala Harris.

The Arkansas Democratic Black Caucus announced that a virtual meeting Monday night raised more than $13,500 for Vice President Harris, who has become the Democratic Party’s presumptive presidential nominee since President Joe Biden exited the race less than two weeks ago. More than 1,900 attended the “Black Arkansans for Kamala” meeting, according to a press release from the Arkansas Democrats.

Grassroots donations totaled $13,604 from 198 contributors. The call was the largest virtual fundraiser for the Democratic Party of Arkansas since the 2020 Democratic National Convention, the party said. That fundraiser was held virtually because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“After 44,000 Black women, like me, joined a call with ‘Win With Black Women’ and then other groups followed, we knew the Arkansas Democratic Black Caucus needed to do it too,” Debrah Mitchell, president of the caucus, said in a press release. “With this energy and mobilization, we win races from the county courthouse to the state house to the White House on Nov. 5.”

The Arkansas Democratic Black Caucus will hold its next meeting Aug. 12.

Since Harris became the Democrats’ presumptive nominee, her campaign has raised more than $200 million. Barring any surprises, the party will make Harris’ nomination official at the Democratic National Convention, scheduled for Aug. 19-24 in Chicago.

Harris is campaigning in Houston Wednesday. Former President Donald Trump, the Republican nominee, is in Chicago before heading to a rally in Pennsylvania.
