J.R. and Henry: N.C. State Coaching Search a Lesson for the Razorbacks
When University of Memphis head basketball coach John Calipari turned down $2 million a year earlier to become the head coach at North Carolina State, few were surprised.  Calipari has never been on our short list of favorite coaches, long before he cancelled the entertaining Arkansas-Memphis series saying that he favored playing “national” programs like Villanova and Purdue, instead of “regional” teams like Arkansas and Tennessee (UT pulled the football card and Calipari was forced to keep playing the Vols). 
Come on, John.

Little Rock and Fayetteville both are the national hotbeds of amateur teen-age boys basketball, with Rockin’ the Rock Spring Classic being held for three days in Little Rock and the “Real Deal on the Hill” being held in Fayetteville over the same period.

Check out the members of Russellville’s Hannah Blaylock and Eden’s Edge when they’re interviewed on KABF-FM, 88.3, beginning at 5:45 p.m. today. Later tonight, you may even catch the group enjoying a meal at Trio’s Restaurant, one of their prizes for winning the Arkansas Times Musicians Showcase in March.

If you’ve never taken in a show at the Arkansas Repertory Theatre’s “small box” of its Second Stage, on the second mezzanine level, “The Retreat From Moscow” would be a nice first show to see there.

After a team record start and some impressive offense to boot, the Arkansas Twisters moved to No. 2 in the Arena Football 2 league coaches’ poll this week after starting the season No. 12.

The Weekend Theater has begun taking reservations for its annual gala, scheduled for Saturday, April 22.
